Team News: David Silva captains Manchester City on return to starting XI

David Silva captains Manchester City on his first start in almost two months as they welcome Hull City to the Etihad Stadium for the League Cup quarter-final.

David Silva will captain Manchester City in the League Cup quarter-final at home to Hull City as the midfielder returns from injury to start for the first time in almost two months.

Manuel Pellegrini has named a strong team to face the Championship side, although there is no place in the squad for Sergio Aguero, who picked up a knock during Saturday's 3-1 win at home to Southampton.

There are five changes in total from that side, as Eliaquim Mangala and Gael Clichy return to the back four, while Jesus Navas joins Silva in a 4-2-3-1 formation behind Wilfried Bony.

Meanwhile, Steve Bruce has made seven changes to his side, with Andrew Robertson returning from suspension to start at left-back.

Robert Snodgrass is among the substitutes for the second successive game and could play his first competitive minutes in more than a year should he come off the bench.

Manchester City: Caballero; Sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy; Delph, Fernandinho; Navas, Silva, De Bruyne; Bony
Subs: Wright, Humphreys, Demichelis, Kolarov, Garcia, Sterling, Iheanacho

Hull City: Jakupovic; Elmohamady, Bruce, Maguire, Robertson; Odubajo, Livermore, Hayden, Taylor; Akpom, Aluko
Subs: McGregor, Huddlestone, Hernández, Snodgrass, Clucas, Maloney, Diame
