Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has claimed that Liverpool have not yet made a bid for Emre Can.
Recent reports suggested that Liverpool were prepared to pay £12m to secure the midfielder's services this summer, but Voller insists there has not been any contact between the two clubs.
The Premier League runners-up could face competition from Bayern Munich, who do have the option to buy back the player they sold last summer.
"We are aware of the interest from Liverpool, but we haven't had anything concrete yet," Voller told Bild.
"It's a fact that Emre Can has a certain clause in his contract, but there is no decision imminent.
"I have been in touch with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge about Emre Can and Bayern are of the opinion that it would be good for the player to remain at Bayer Leverkusen."
Can made 35 appearances, scoring three times, for Leverkusen this season.
