Martin Skrtel has insisted that he is in no rush to negotiate a new contract with Liverpool and revealed that he is willing to wait until the summer to commence discussions.
The futures of Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson have been brought into question, with both players yet to commit themselves to the Merseyside outfit beyond their current agreements.
Skrtel has hinted that his own future at Anfield is far from certain, but the Slovakian defender wants to finish the season before speaking to the Liverpool hierarchy.
"There was contact with the club a few months ago but at the moment I am just focusing on my game and focusing on the football and then at the end of the season we will see where we stand," Skrtel told the Liverpool Echo.
"At the moment I am just focusing on my job and then after the season if they want then we can talk."
Liverpool can get their quest for a Champions League place back on track with victory over Newcastle United on Monday evening.
