Report: Liverpool planning move for Leicester City midfielder Harvey Barnes

A report claims that Leicester City midfielder Harvey Barnes is a target for Liverpool, having been identified as a cheaper option than £60m-rated Adama Traore.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to move for Leicester City midfielder Harvey Barnes after conceding defeat in their pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers' Adama Traore.

The Premier League champions are said to have been quoted a figure of £60m for flying winger Traore, which is out of their price range for this summer's transfer window.

According to The Sun, the Reds have been looking at alternative targets and Barnes is one of those that they believe can be snapped up for a far cheaper sum.

Barnes has featured 35 times in the top flight for Leicester this season, scoring and assisting a combined 14 goals for Brendan Rodgers's men.

The report claims that City are reluctant to offload the talented wideman, but they need to raise funds through player sales in order to strengthen elsewhere.

Leicester take on Manchester United in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday, while Liverpool head to Newcastle United.
