Liverpool have agreed a deal with Napoli to send Pepe Reina on loan to Serie A, allowing the goalkeeper to join former coach Rafael Benitez at the San Paolo Stadium.
Napoli coach Benitez lodged a formal bid to sign the Spanish international on a season-long loan deal yesterday, which has now been accepted by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
Reina was due to join Liverpool's first-team squad in Melbourne this weekend, but has now flown to Italy for further talks with Benitez over a move, according to The Telegraph.
Reds boss Rodgers signed Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet earlier this summer and was reportedly happy to let Reina leave in search of guaranteed first-team football.
The 30-year-old has spent eight seasons at Anfield, winning both the FA Cup and League Cup during his time on Merseyside.
