Liverpool will reportedly inform Schalke 04 that they will not take up the option to sign defender Ozan Kabak on a permanent deal this summer.
The 20-year-old Turkish international joined the Reds in February on loan, with an £18m option to buy inserted into the deal.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp has now turned his attention to other targets, with RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate at the top of his wishlist.
Liverpool are believed to be close to signing the France Under-21s international, who is also understood to have completed the first part of his medical ahead of a proposed £34m transfer this summer.
Several Premier League and Bundesliga clubs, including Leipzig, are now considering making an offer for Kabak, with Schalke looking to sell as they aim to balance their books financially.
Kabak made 14 appearances in the Bundesliga for the German club before temporarily joining Liverpool, where he featured 13 times in all competitions this campaign.
