A report claims that Liverpool's move for Ibrahima Konate may be off as RB Leipzig are asking for the transfer fee in one payment.

Liverpool's move for RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate has reportedly been plunged into doubt as the German club have changed the terms of the transfer.

The Reds are rumoured to have all but reached an agreement with Leipzig and the player himself on a five-year deal last week ahead of the summer window.

However, The Times claims that the Bundesliga outfit have since moved the goalposts as they now want Liverpool to pay for Konate in one lump sum, rather than in instalments.

That could potentially put Jurgen Klopp's men off completing the transfer as they are not in a financial position to splash out large sums for players in one go this year.

Klopp may therefore have to look elsewhere for a new central defender, which remains an area of concern despite the January arrivals of Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak.

France Under-21s international Konate has only made seven Bundesliga starts for Leipzig during an injury-hit 2020-21, while featuring a further six times from the substitutes' bench.
