Ibrahima Konate has reportedly completed the first part of his Liverpool medical ahead of an expected summer switch from RB Leipzig.
Jurgen Klopp's side are believed to be closing in on the signing of Konate, whose €40m (£34m) exit clause in his Leipzig contract has supposedly been triggered by the Reds.
Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak deputised well during the Reds' defensive injury crisis throughout the second half of the season, but Klopp is understandably keen to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new season.
According to Football Insider, Konate has successfully navigated the first part of his Liverpool medical, and there is a growing feeling that the deal will be fully completed by the end of this week.
The France Under-21s international has experienced his fair share of injury woes this season, and the report adds that further medical exams will be undertaken soon, but there are no fears that a deal could be scuppered.
Konate started just eight games of a frustrating 2020-21 Bundesliga season, and he has registered four goals in 95 appearances for Leipzig since 2017.
