Liverpool trigger Joe Gomez release clause?

England Under-19s international Joe Gomez will complete a £3.5m switch from Charlton Athletic to Liverpool this weekend, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly moved another step closer to signing Charlton Athletic youngster Joe Gomez, by triggering a £3.5m release clause in his contract.

The 18-year-old is now expected to undergo a medical on Friday afternoon, before final terms between the two clubs - including minor details regarding a sell-on fee - are thrashed out.

News first emerged earlier this week claiming that the Reds were interested in the England Under-19s international, and PA now reports that a switch could be completed by this weekend.

Liverpool have already agreed deals in principle to sign James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan, as Brendan Rodgers attempts to reinvigorate his squad.
