After pulling out of the race to sign versatile defender Jamal Lewis from Norwich City, Liverpool turned their focus to Tsimikas and wasted little time in completing a deal.
The 24-year-old Greece international has moved to Anfield on a five-year contract and will provide some much-needed competition for Andrew Robertson at left-back.
Tsimikas has been capped three times by his country and has experience of playing in European football with Greek giants Olympiacos.
Leicester City and Sevilla are also rumoured to have been in the running for the defender's signature.

The Wales international has impressed across four spells away from Anfield, though, most recently with Bournemouth in the 2019-20 campaign.
A quartet of Premier League clubs are now rumoured to be looking to sign the rights-sided attacker, with Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Leeds United all in the hunt.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool are prepared to sell the 23-year-old this summer if his £20m valuation is met.

Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White is another player who has benefited from a loan spell, having starred for Leeds in the Championship last season.
Following their promotion to the top flight, the Whites are now known to be eager to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis.
Liverpool are also rumoured to be in the running for White, as are Premier League rivals Chelsea, but all three sides have reportedly been dealt a major blow.
The Sun reports that Brighton have made it clear that their academy product will remain at the Amex Stadium, where he will challenge for first-team football next season.
