Cagliari central midfielder Nicolo Barella is a summer transfer target for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to a report.
The Italy Under-21s international has previously been linked with a move to Inter Milan following some impressive displays in Serie A this term.
Barella, who has five goals and one assist from his 26 top-flight outings, is said to have been targeted as a replacement for Emre Can.
La Nuova Sardegna reports that Inter remain the frontrunners to sign the 21-year-old, but Liverpool still intend to make a bid once the transfer window opens.
The Reds have already struck a deal to bring Naby Keita to Anfield from RB Leipzig in June, though Klopp is reportedly keen to further strengthen in the central midfield area.
