Liverpool snap up former Manchester City right-back Diego Lattie

Liverpool fend off interest from a number of other Premier League clubs to bring 16-year-old Diego Lattie to the club on a free transfer from Manchester City.

Liverpool have signed 16-year-old former Manchester City right-back Diego Lattie on a free transfer.

Lattie is an England Under-17s international and was thought to be highly sought-after, with the likes of Manchester United, Everton, Norwich City, Stoke City, Sunderland and Aston Villa reportedly keen on the youngster.

However, Liverpool have won the race, with Lattie signing a three-year deal with the Reds after Man City opted against offering him a new contract.

Lattie has already begun training at the club's Kirkby Academy and will join the Under-18s squad during pre-season.

He had been with Man City since the age of nine.
