Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker after the player's agent denied reports that his client is on the verge of signing a new contract with the Serie A club.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian shot-stopper this summer following a campaign which has seen Jurgen Klopp switch between Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius as his number one.
Liverpool are understood to be in the market for a new goalkeeper - with Alisson thought to be at the top of their list - but speculation from Italy yesterday suggested that the 25-year-old was close to penning new terms with Roma, who are reportedly willing to double his wages.
However, his agent Ze Maria Neis has denied those rumours - although he did suggest that his client is happy in the Italian capital.
"We still haven't talked to Roma. Alisson is settled though and he likes the club and the city," Neis told Tele Radio Stereo.
Real Madrid - who will face Liverpool in the Champions League final on May 26 - have also been linked with a move for Alisson.
