Liverpool are reportedly one of "several clubs" interested in signing Barcelona's Dutch winger Ibrahim Afellay on loan.

Liverpool have reportedly been in contact with Barcelona over the loan signing of winger Ibrahim Afellay.

The 26-year-old's agent recently claimed that "several clubs" were interested in securing the services of the Dutchman and, according to Sport 360°, Liverpool are one of the intrigued parties.

Afellay has failed to ensure regular minutes at Barca due to injury problems and has now seemingly fallen behind Alexis Sanchez, Pedro Rodriguez, Cristian Tello and Isaac Cuenca in the Camp Nou pecking order.

Zenit St. Petersburg and Inter Milan are also believed to be interested in the winger, who has made 41 senior international appearances.
