Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton have expressed an interest in signing Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for the Potters this season and went over nine hours without conceding prior to Sunderland's late goals in his side's 2-0 defeat on Saturday.
According to the Sunday People, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is looking at potential replacements for Simon Mignolet and has sent his scouts to look at Butland.
However, the source adds that Roberto Martinez is also keen on the former Birmingham City stopper in his hunt for a long-term successor to Tim Howard, who turns 37 next month.
Chelsea had a £3.5m bid accepted by Birmingham for Butland in 2013 but he moved to Stoke in the belief that they could offer him a better shot at first-team football.
