Inter Milan have reportedly contacted former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard over the prospect of finishing his playing career in Italy.
Gerrard has been weighing up his options since bringing an end to his 18-month spell in the MLS with Los Angeles Galaxy earlier this month.
The 36-year-old has been linked with a return to Anfield in a coaching capacity, while he is also understood to be in talks over the vacant manager's job at MK Dons.
However, The Independent reports that the 114-time England international has now been offered the chance to extend his playing career by a further six months until the end of the current campaign in Serie A.
Inter, who recently appointed Stefano Pioli as their new head coach, are expected to strengthen in January and have also been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Oscar.
