Daniel Sturridge: 'Raheem Sterling will only get better'

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge believes that teammate Raheem Sterling will continue to improve as he spends more time in the club's first team.

Daniel Sturridge has backed Raheem Sterling to "get better" as he continues to play first-team football with the club.

The teenager has been a regular in Brendan Rodgers's starting lineup since December, earning him a recall to the England squad for this week's international friendly against Denmark.

Sturridge told the club's website: "I think [playing for England] was easy for him because he had the captain of his club playing for the country out there. He also had Jordan [Henderson] on the same side as him and the same with [Glen Johnson].

"I think it felt probably like playing for Liverpool with how we went out there. The football he plays is exceptional and he is only going to get better.

"You see with Raheem now, he is getting the opportunities to play week in, week out and is flourishing. For every young player it is important to play regularly. My journey has certainly not finished, I am not the complete player."

Sterling has scored seven goals in all competitions this season.
