Report: Liverpool offer Jurgen Klopp new deal nine months after hiring him

Liverpool reportedly offer manager Jurgen Klopp a new contract, just nine months after hiring him as Brendan Rodgers's successor.

Liverpool's American owners have reportedly offered manager Jurgen Klopp a new and improved contract, just nine months after hiring the German coach.

The 49-year-old has impressed in the Anfield hotseat having guided the team to two finals - the League Cup and Europa League - in seven months.

The club failed to clinch silverware in both showdowns, but Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group are reportedly happy with Klopp's impact and want him to remain in charge for many years.

According to The Guardian, talks have begun over a new contract for Klopp, whose current deal runs until 2018 and includes an option of a further year.

The Stuttgart-born coach arrived in Merseyside in October to replace Brendan Rodgers after spending seven years in charge of Borussia Dortmund, where he won two Bundesliga titles.

Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League last season, meaning that they will not play any European football in the upcoming campaign.

Klopp has sealed four signings so far as Liverpool manager, bringing in Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Loris Karius and Sadio Mane.
