Harry Redknapp unconvinced by "bang average" Liverpool

Ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp slams "bang average" Liverpool and does not believe that they will finish in the top four, let alone mount a Premier League title bid.

Harry Redknapp has claimed that "bang average" Liverpool will struggle to secure a top-four Premier League finish this season even after another summer spending spree.

Brendan Rodgers's side won seven points from a possible nine in their first three games before a 3-0 defeat by West Ham United at Anfield brought them back down to earth.

The Northern Irishman splashed over £70m in the summer, with forward Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino accounting for the bulk of that, but Redknapp remains unconvinced.

"I don't fancy Liverpool at all," the former Tottenham Hotspur boss told The Telegraph. "I think it's the worst Liverpool team I have seen in years. They look bang average. They are lucky to have any points.

"Bournemouth should have beaten them, they got a wonder goal at Stoke. OK, they played all right first half at Arsenal. I think they will do well to finish in the top five. I am not with Liverpool at all this year. Having said that they will probably win the league!

"I love Liverpool Football Club, and if you said to me which team would I have loved to manage in this country it would be Liverpool - but I can't see it this year."

The Reds, who made a short-lived return to the Champions League last season as they suffered a group-stage exit, sit seventh in the table.
