Adam Lallana looking for victory over boyhood club

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana wants to continue Everton's 15-year winless run at Anfield in the Merseyside derby, despite supporting the Toffees as a boy.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is hopeful that he and his teammates can continue Everton's 15-year winless run at Anfield, despite his past allegiance to the Toffees.

The 26-year-old has admitted that he supported Everton growing up, but his passion for the club diminished when he became a professional at Southampton, and is now determined to beat them in their Merseyside derby clash.

Lallana told reporters: "I know Everton have not won at Anfield for 15 years and hopefully we can keep that intact and go on and get the win we need this time too. If we do, then Dad's a bit like me, a fan but not ultra, ultra passionate, and the rest of the family were delighted when I joined Liverpool.

"They all come to most of the games so they will be here on Saturday, some friends as well – and no one in the away end!

"Playing for Southampton for so many years, supporting them became less and less. I would always look for the result – you always support a team when you're growing up I suppose."

Liverpool face Everton in their Premier League matchup later today.
