Fabio Borini says that Liverpool was not an option he considered before finalising his £3.95m move to Roma.

Fabio Borini has revealed that his heart was set on a move to Roma.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to Anfield before completing his £3.95m move to the Italian capital.

The striker had previously worked with new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers while on loan at Swansea City last year.

However, Borini has now said that he was only ever interested in a return to his homeland.

"I am a Roma player," said Borini. "It's not my business that there is talk about whether I go [to Liverpool] or stay. It doesn't matter to me, I am Roma."

Borini joined Chelsea from Bologna as a youth player in 2007.
