Joe Allen "very disappointed" by Liverpool's decision to sack Colin Pascoe

Joe Allen admits that he is "very disappointed" by Liverpool's decision to sack assistant manager Colin Pascoe.

Joe Allen has admitted that he feels "very disappointed" by Liverpool's call to sack assistant manager Colin Pascoe.

The Welshman has been Brendan Rodgers's right-hand man since the pair's spell at Swansea City.

Rodgers opted to take Pascoe with him when he got the Liverpool job in the summer of 2012, but following an end-of-season review last month, the coach was dismissed by the club's American owners.

Allen spent a large chunk of his career under Pascoe's guidance as he came through the youth ranks at Swansea.

"I'm very disappointed, he's been someone who's been instrumental in my career," BBC Sport quotes Allen as saying. "We've worked together for, must be nine years, so he's been a huge part of my career - a massive help to me on a personal level.

"I'm very grateful for all the effort he's put in with me and it's certainly without someone like Pas's help I doubt I'd be playing at a club like Liverpool."

First-team coach Mike Marsh was also let go by the Merseyside outfit.
