Sam Allardyce wants to help Liverpool win Premier League title

Sam Allardyce believes that neutral football fans want Liverpool to win the title as his West Ham side try to upset leaders Manchester City on Sunday.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he would prefer to see Liverpool win the Premier League title over Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini's men have the advantage given that they need just one point from Sunday's clash against the Hammers to grab their second title in three years.

Liverpool, who are two points behind leaders City, need to beat Newcastle United at Anfield in their final game to stand any chance of triumph.

Allardyce believes that the majority of football fans want the Reds to clinch their first title in 24 years, while he personally is backing captain Steven Gerrard to add the trophy to his list of honours.

"From a neutral point of view, I think people would like to see Liverpool win it," Allardyce said in Friday's press conference. "From a personal point of view, I'd like to see Steven Gerrard win it."

Meanwhile, Allardyce has insisted that there are no fears that he could lose his job at Upton Park.
