Liverpool will be aiming to break a 94-year-old goalscoring record when they face off against Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday in the Premier League.

Liverpool will be aiming to break a 94-year-old English goalscoring record when they face off against Everton in Wednesday's Premier League Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The Reds have been in ruthless form domestically and continentally this term and put four unanswered goals past Southampton in Saturday's top-flight victory.

That win marked the 17th game in succession that Liverpool managed to score at least two goals, matching the feat first set by Sunderland all the way back in 1927.

Another goal-laden showing for Liverpool at Goodison Park will therefore see them break the Black Cats' record for an English team scoring two or more goals in successive matches.

The Reds have scored 21 of their 39 league goals this term away from home - unsurprisingly a top-flight high - but the last four encounters at Goodison Park have ended level.

Liverpool start the gameweek third in the table - two points adrift of leaders Chelsea - while their out-of-sorts opponents are down in 14th.
