Good afternoon. Celtic and Liverpool kickoff in Dublin in around half an hour. Both sides have already named their starting lineups, so let's take a look at the teams.

CELTIC STARTING XI: Zaluska, Matthews, Lustig, Mouyokolo, Izaguirre, McGeouch, Kayal, Irvine, Stokes, Balde, Watt

LIVERPOOL STARTING XI: Mignolet, Johnson, Toure, Wisdom, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Downing, Aspas, Coutinho

CELTIC SUBS: Forster, Findlay, Fisher, Herron, Henderson, Atajic, George

LIVERPOOL SUBS: Jones, Alberto, Assaidi, Henderson, Sturridge, Coates, Borini, Sterling, Kelly, Flanagan, Ibe

New signing Amido Balde starts up front for the Hoops alongside Tony Watt while Bahrudin Atajic, who is preparing for his first season with the senior squad, starts on the bench.

Iago Aspas starts up front as he looks for his fifth goal of the pre-season partnership Philippe Countinho, who has also had a prolific summer.

Jordan Ibe, who has impressed in several of Liverpool's pre-season fixtures starts on the bench this afternoon. The notable absence is, of course, Luis Suarez, who did not travel to Dublin.

Dublin-born Anthony Stokes, who starts for Celtic, admitted that he is excited to play in his home city. He told the club's website: "Obviously, I supported the club when I was younger and most of my family and friends are Celtic fans as well, so it's probably a bit more special for them more than anything. I always love playing in Dublin and with so many supporters back in Ireland, Celtic are always very welcome there. It's great to be home and play in front of family and friends and it will be an occasion that I'll enjoy."

Also on the bench for Liverpool this afternoon is Daniel Sturridge, who returned to full training this week. Speaking about the striker, the club's manager said: "He has worked very hard. I must pay credit to him and the medical team. His fitness level is really good. We can't push him too much but it has been great to see him in training."

Tickets for this game sold out in just over an hour. It will be the first time that the Aviva Stadium has been sold out for a football match!

The players head out onto the pitch with You'll Never Walk Alone blaring around the ground.

Liverpool get the first half underway.

Balde breaks from midfield, but some close marking from Wisdom sees the ball go behind before the new signing can get a cross in. The Portuguese player appeals for a corner, but the referee awards a goal kick.

Balde runs down the wing again, with Wisdom for company once more. The Liverpool defender concedes a free kick for a physical tackle on the forward, but it's quickly cleared by the Premier League side.

Countinho shows some speedy footwork in midfield before tripping over Kayal. He just manages to get the ball to Aspas, but the Spanish striker can't control the ball, allowing Celtic to clear the threat. Both sides have made attacking starts.

CHANCE! Aspas bursts into the box before finding Joe Allen, but the Welshman shoots too late, leaving himself with an impossible angle, and he puts the ball wide.

Aspas' pace is causing problems for the Celtic defenders. He times his run into the box brilliantly, but Coutinho can't deliver the pass to him.

GOAL! Celtic 1-0 Liverpool (Balde)

Anthony Stokes loops the ball forward for Amido Balde, who powers into space on the edge of the box. Mignolet comes off his line to make the save, but he doesn't get a clean contact with the ball, and it loops over him into the back of the net.

CHANCE! Liverpool almost get back on level terms straight away as Coutinho charges into the box and blasts the ball at the Celtic goal, but Zaluska manages to palm the ball away. Coutinho and Aspas appear to be working well together early on in this match.

CHANCE! Downing has a shot at goal from the edge of the box, powering his effort at Zaluska from the right-hand side of the penalty area. The Polish keeper showed superb reactions to keep the shot out.

CHANCE! From the corner, Gerrard's delivery drops to Toure, forcing Stokes to attempt a clearance which almost ends up in the back of the net, but it just floats over the crossbar to give Liverpool another corner, which this time Celtic manage to clear.

CHANCE! Coutinho has another sight of goal, this time trying to drill the ball in from 20 yards. Liverpool has found another gear since going a goal down, and look really dangerous at the moment.

CHANCE! Johnson times his run perfectly to pick up a Downing ball into the box, but the defender strikes the ball straight at Zaluska, who manages to punch the ball away.

Celtic bear down on the Liverpool box for the first time since taking the lead, with Jackson Irvine looking for Stokes out wide, but the Hoops captain can't find a gap to deliver the ball to Balde in the box, but manages to win a throw-in.

Gerrard, who has been kept relatively quiet so far, wins the ball in midfield, and finds Enrique in plenty of space on the left wing. Aspas looks for a way into the box, but Celtic hold firm at the back to block the move.

CHANCE! Joe Allen looks to deliver the ball to Aspas, but the Spaniard is caught offside. Coutinho picks up the ball moments later and looks to shoot again, but fails to find the target. The Brazilian has put in quite a shift already this afternoon.

Aspas fouls Lustig to give Celtic possession in midfield. The Scottish champions are just looking to keep the ball and slow the pace down a little following a frantic opening half hour.

CHANCE! Gerrard has his first effort at goal, trying to lash the ball in from the edge of the box, but he doesn't get the contact that he wanted, and the ball goes well high.

CHANCE! Zaluska protects Celtic's lead yet again as Aspas tries to fire the ball on the half-volley in from a Coutinho pass.

Wisdom concedes a free kick for a careless challenge on Balde. The ball into the box leaves the Liverpool defenders scrambling with Balde looking to add his second of the afternoon, but Toure eventually manages to clear.

Matthews makes a brilliant run down the right wing, eventually winning a free kick following two tackles by Lucas. Stokes fires the ball into the box, but Mouyokolo is judged to have fouled Toure in the box, giving Liverpool a free kick.

CHANCE! Johnson uses some skillful footwork to find his way into the box, but shows a classic defenders finish while looking for goal. His strike did take a deflection though, giving Liverpool a corner. Celtic clear the initial delivery, but Gerrard is waiting on the edge of the area to drill the ball back in, but Tony Watt is back to make the block, although he takes a knock to the head in the process.

BOOKING! Stokes is booked for a studs-up challenge on Coutinho, which leaves the Liverpool player clutching his shin.

CHANCE! Coutinho appears to have recovered quickly, whipping the ball in from the free kick to win a corner on the brink of half time. From the corner, Coutinho drills the ball back in following an initial clearacne by Celtic, but Zaluska manages to take the ball.

CHANCE! Stokes makes a superb run on the stroke of half time, leaving him one-on-one with Mignolet, but the Liverpool keeper watches the ball all the way, and is able to stop the ball on the line.

HALF TIME: Celtic 1-0 Liverpool

Amido Balde's early goal is all that separates the sides at half time at the Aviva Stadium. The Portuguese forward has caused all sorts of problems for Andre Wisdom and Kolo Toure, who have been marking him in the first half.

Liverpool have created plenty of chances of their own, with Philippe Coutinho and Iago Aspas looking particularly dangerous up front. However, Lukasz Zaluska has been impressive between the posts for the Scottish side.

Brendan Rodgers is likely to make a number of changes in the second half, with 11 players named on the bench. However, Celtic are likely to use their changes more sparingly, as Neil Lennon's squad is currently depleted by a number of injuries.

Daniel Sturridge is on the pitch warming up, so it looks like he will be among the changes for Liverpool at the start of the second half.

The players are heading back onto the pitch. As soon as we get details as any changes to the teams we will bring you up to date.

SUB! Daniel Sturridge comes on for Iago Aspas in Liverpool's only change ahead of the second half.

SUBS! Fraser Forster takes over the goalkeeping duties while Darnell Fisher comes on for Lustig.

Celtic get the second half underway.

McGeough gets the better of Wisdom on the wing and crosses into the box for Stokes, but Toure beats the Celtic captain in the air to clear the ball for Liverpool. The pair clashed heads during the challenge, with Stokes coming off the worse, but he looks ok to continue.

CHANCE! Johnson continues his attacking display from the first half with a run into the Celtic half before picking out Sturridge, who goes for goal with his first touch of the ball, and doesn't miss the target by much.

Sturridge delivers the ball out wide for Enrique, who initially struggles to control the pass but eventually manages to get the cross in, but Forster claims the ball before any Liverpool players reach the delivery.

CHANCE! Gerrard wins the ball in midfield before passing to Downing, who weaves through the Celtic defenders to break into the box before pulling it back for Coutinho, but the Brazilian fails to spot the ball and misses the chance for a simple tap in.

DISALLOWED GOAL! Coutinho wins a free kick on the edge of the area after being brought down by Matthews. Gerrard whipped it in for Kolo Toure to head in, but the Ivorian defender had just crept offside.

CHANCE! Coutinho gets the ball to Sturridge, who is clearly keen to score on his return from an ankle injury. However, the England international is left with a tight angle, and his shot is easily saved by Forster.

SUB! Liverpool make another change as Jordan Henderson comes on for Joe Allen.

Liverpool have done nothing but attack this half, and they continue to do so, as Sturridge find Gerrard on the edge of the box, but the Liverpool captain mis-reads Sturridge's run, expecting him to run into the box, but he doesn't and the ball goes behind for a Celtic goal kick.

Liverpool win a corner, which Gerrard takes. Wisdom takes to volley the ball in but scuffs the shot, allowing Celtic to clear the ball, but Liverpool quickly win the ball back, and are looking to get back into the final third.

CHANCE! Downing delivers another Liverpool corner, and Toure rises high to go for another header, but just misses the ball. Had he made contact, that would surely have been the equaliser.

SUB! It's another change for Celtic, as Izaguirre makes way for Robbie Thomson.

CHANCE! Coutinho breaks down the centre of the pitch with Gerrard and Sturridge in support either side. However, he decides to take the shot himself, and sends it just wide.

SUB! The goalscorer goes off the Celtic, with Bahrudin Atajic taking his place. Meanwhile, it looks like Liverpool are getting ready to make another change as well.

SUB! Jordan Ibe comes on the final 20 minutes, with Stuart Downing going off. It's an attack-minded change from Rodgers as Liverpool continue to push for an equaliser.

CHANCE! It's a rare second-half chance for Celtic, as Tony Watt, who has moved into a more attacking role, breaks into the box, forcing Johnson to put it behind for a corner. Stokes' corner floats dangerously in front of the Liverpool goal, but Mignolet confidently punches it away.

CHANCE! Henderson picks up the ball on the left wing before breaking into the box. However, he gets caught in two minds, unsure whether to bring the ball back to Sturridge or go for goal himself. He shoots, but his effort lacks power, and is easily taken by Forster.

Ibe wins a corner after bursting into the box and taking a shot, which Forster tipped behind. The delivery was initially cleared as far as Gerrard on the edge of the box, but the Liverpool captain couldn't find the target with his effort.

Celtic go in search of a second goal, with McGeouch crossing the ball in for Stokes, who tried to power the ball in, but he sliced his shot, which flew well high of the crossbar.

SUBS! Neil Lennon makes two further changes. Tony Watt goes off with what appears to be an ankle injury, while Kayal also goes off. Paul George and Liam Henderson take their places.

CHANCE! From nowhere, Sturridge gets the ball on the edge of the box and tries to lift if over Forster, but lifts it just wide. He gets another chance moments later but with the same result, rippling the net on the way through.

CHANCE! Celtic are trying to keep hold of the ball for the final couple of minutes of the game to secure the win, but Liverpool win the ball back. Toure and Gerrard link up on the edge of the box before Ibe takes the shot, which Forster just tips high with his fingertips.

CHANCE! A deep corner falls to Gerrard, who tries to volley in from just inside the box, but he scuffs the shot, which goes out for a goal kick. There will be four minutes of stoppage time.

Ibe and Coutinho play the ball through midfield before the Brazilian finds Henderson, who tries to cross the ball in, winning a corner. Henderson takes it short to Ibe, but the teenager can't keep hold of the ball. Eventually he wins it back and gets another corner, but Celtic quickly clear.

FULL TIME: Celtic 1-0 Liverpool

Amido Balde's first-half goal was enough for Celtic to secure the win. Liverpool will take some positives from the match, though, as they created plenty of chances throughout and saw Daniel Sturridge return from an ankle injury.
