Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel "out for six weeks"

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel reveals that a torn hamstring will keep him on the sidelines for the next six weeks of the campaign.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has revealed that he will be out of action "for six weeks" with the hamstring problem that he suffered against Watford.

The centre-back picked up the tear in the first half of his team's 3-0 defeat at Vicarage Road at the weekend, and speculation as to the extent of the problem has been rife over the last 24 hours.

The 31-year-old has taken to social media site Instagram to clear up the speculation, but it is not good news for the Slovakian.

"After all [the] rumours going around, I want to say the time I will spend on [the] sideline won't be three months. After I suffered [a] tear in my hamstring and tendon I will be out for six weeks," Skrtel posted.

"I will work hard on my recovery and will do everything to come back as soon as possible and even stronger than before. Thanks for your support."

Skrtel has made more than 300 appearances for Liverpool since joining the Merseyside club from Zenit St Petersburg in January 2008.
