Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott has been forced to withdraw from England Under-21s' squad for their European Championship qualifier with Kosovo on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old has been handed several opportunities to impress in the Reds' first team this season, playing the full 90 minutes against Burnley and Chelsea after a cameo appearance against Norwich City.
Elliott was rewarded with a call-up to the England Under-21s for Tuesday's European Championship qualifier with Kosovo - where he was in line to earn his first cap - but Liverpool have now confirmed that the teenager has been forced to pull out.
A statement on liverpoolfc.com read: "Harvey Elliott has withdrawn from the England U21 squad. The Liverpool attacker has returned to the club as a result of an injury that will prevent him from featuring in the Young Lions' U21 European Championship qualifier against Kosovo on Tuesday night."
The severity of Elliott's injury is unclear at this stage, and the youngster joins Takumi Minamino and Roberto Firmino in the Reds' treatment room before Sunday's clash with Leeds United.
Elliott previously scored three goals in nine games for England Under-18s before being called up to the Under-21s.
