Leicester City boss Claude Puel suggests that the Foxes may find it difficult to manage the ongoing situation with Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester City boss Claude Puel has revealed that the Foxes are continuing to assess the ongoing situation involving Riyad Mahrez.

During the final 48 hours of the transfer window, Mahrez handed in a transfer request in an attempt to push through a move to Manchester City, but the Premier League leaders withdrew their interest after deciding against meeting the player's valuation.

Mahrez is said to be "depressed" over having to remain at the East Midlands outfit and has missed two training sessions, developments which have led to Puel acknowledging that it is going to be a 'tough decision to manage'.

At a press conference, the 56-year-old told reporters: "The club took the decision for the best interest of Leicester, we needed to respect this decision. It is the best decision for our squad.

"The position with Riyad, we will assess. After the transfer window, it is a tough decision for us to manage now. It is important now to move on and to keep our focus on the pitch. I hope Riyad can clear his head and come back with us as he is a valuable player for us and crucial in our play.

"We need to stay united after all this, it is a situation we need to manage but other things will stay inside the club. We will deal with his side and the club, not in public."

Mahrez will not play any part of Leicester's encounter with Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.
