Leeds United boss Brian McDermott has admitted that he is unlikely to hand Davide Somma a new contract at the club this summer.
The 28-year-old has been dogged by knee injuries in recent seasons, with three operations keeping him on the sidelines in the last two campaigns.
However, McDermott has insisted that the club will continue to provide the necessary medical support to the South African forward.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "He's a great guy who's been really unlucky. I spoke to Harvey (Sharman, United's head physio) and we agreed that we wanted to do the right thing by him.
"We'll look after him, try to get him fit and if something comes up for him elsewhere, we'll try to make sure that nothing stops him taking up the opportunity."
It is understood that a host of lower league clubs are monitoring proceedings.
