Burnley land full-back Charlie Taylor on four-year deal

Burnley sign former Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor on a four-year deal, bringing an end to his 14-year stay at Elland Road.

Burnley have signed defender Charlie Taylor on a four-year deal after the full-back turned down the offer of a new contract at Leeds United.

The 23-year-old controversially refused to play in the Whites' 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic on the final day of the Championship season, leaving then-manager Garry Monk unhappy with his conduct.

Leeds still pushed ahead with offering the full-back a two-year contract extension in the hope of fending off interest from West Bromwich Albion and Burnley.

Albion appeared to be at the front of the queue for his signature, only to pull out due to a concern over the compensation fee they would have to hand over to Leeds.

Following weeks of speculation Burnley have now got a transfer over the line, bringing an end to the Englishman's 14-year stay at Elland Road.

A fee for Taylor, who made 104 senior appearances for Leeds, has yet to be agreed between the two clubs.
