Leeds United have dropped to 14th in the Championship after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Derby County on Monday.
The away side might have taken the lead barely a minute into the match when Jake Buxton struck from close range, but Leeds stopper Andy Lonergan pushed the ball to safety before Derby striker Nathan Tyson headed wide.
Ramon Nunez had the home side's best chance of the opening period, but his effort was blocked after 10 minutes.
Leeds were reduced to 10 men just before the 30 minute mark in the match when Michael Brown was dismissed for a challenge on Theo Robinson.
It got worse for the home side after 32 minutes when Craig Bryson sent Derby into the lead with a cool finish from inside the box.
Leeds might have equalised after 40 minutes when Ross McCormack found Luciano Becchio in the area, but his header drifted wide.
Becchio again came close with a header moments into the second period, but he missed the target.
Steve Davies secured the away side's second, however, after 66 minutes when he turned in from close range.
Danny Webber might have brought Leeds back into the match with five minutes remaining, but he missed from close range.
Derby, meanwhile, have moved into 11th.
