Doherty: 'Complaints about Wolves are pathetic'

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty describes complaints regarding the club's business in the transfer market as "pathetic".

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty has criticised Championship teams which have made complaints regarding the club's business in the transfer policy.

During the summer, Wolves brought in a number of players who are associated with super-agent Jorge Mendes, and questions have been raised about how the West Midlands outfit have been able to bring in such highly-rated players.

The EFL says that it will hold discussions with Wolves after concerns were raised by Leeds United and Aston Villa, but Doherty has claimed that their efforts to halt his side's promotion charge are "pathetic"

The 26-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "We know what the deal is, we know there is nothing going on.

"Some of the stuff they're complaining about is pathetic really. Even Neil Warnock came out and backed us up and he would be one you'd think would be firmly on top of it.

"They're trying anything to get some points off us. But we've done our talking on the pitch — we're 13 points clear of third. The clubs talking are those behind us who are slipping up. They should have other things to worry about."

Earlier this month, Cardiff City manager Warnock claimed that he would not care if Wolves were able to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.
