Championship week 37 predictions including Leeds vs. Huddersfield

Sports Mole provides score predictions for this weekend's Championship fixtures, including the Yorkshire derby between Leeds and Huddersfield at Elland Road.

Nottingham Forest vs. Millwall (Friday, 7.45pm)

Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi on February 1, 2020© Reuters

Nottingham Forest will be looking to return to winning ways in the Championship when they welcome Millwall to the City Ground on Friday night.

Sabri Lamouchi's team have only won one of their last five in the league but are still fourth in the table, while Millwall currently sit 10th, five points outside of the playoff positions in the second tier.

We say: Nottingham Forest 2-1 Millwall

Both teams will be desperate to return to winning ways on Friday night, but we just have a feeling for Forest. The Reds have had their problems at the City Ground this season, although we expect them to pick up all three points at the conclusion of a hard-fought 90 minutes of football.

Bristol City vs. Fulham (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Fulham manager Scott Parker pictured on February 26, 2020© Reuters

Championship promotion rivals Bristol City and Fulham face off at Ashton Gate in Saturday's early kickoff.

City are winless in four league matches, while the visitors enter the game on the back of successive wins to open up a nine-point gap on their opponents.

We say: Bristol City 1-2 Fulham

Since the start of December, only Hull City (six) have lost more home Championship games than Bristol City (five). The Robins picked up a point in their most recent outing away at Millwall, but Fulham have regained some momentum and we are backing them to win this one.

Barnsley vs. Cardiff (Saturday, 3pm)

Cardiff manager Neil Harris licks his lips on February 15, 2020© Reuters

Barnsley will be looking to give their Championship survival hopes a shot in the arm when they welcome Cardiff City to Oakwell this weekend.

The Tykes' recent revival was ended by Reading last week, leaving them five points adrift of safety ahead of Saturday's visit of promotion-chasing Cardiff.

We say: Barnsley 0-1 Cardiff City

Barnsley and Cardiff are both in need of victories to boost their survival and promotion aspirations respectively. The Tykes have a poor record against the Bluebirds and we are expecting that winless run to continue this weekend.

Birmingham vs. Reading (Saturday, 3pm)

Reading manager Mark Bowen on February 15, 2020© Reuters

Birmingham City will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run of form in the Championship to 11 matches when they welcome Reading to St Andrew's on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have not lost in the league since New Year's Day, although they remain 15th in the table, two points and one position above Reading ahead of this weekend's contest.

We say: Birmingham 1-1 Reading

This match has a draw written all over it. The table suggests that there is not too much between the two teams in terms of quality, and Birmingham have very much been the draw specialists in 2020.

Brentford vs. Sheffield Wednesday (Saturday, 3pm)

Brentford will be looking to win in the Championship for the first time since February 8 when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Bees are without a victory in their last five in the league but still sit fifth in the table, nine points above 12th-placed Sheffield Wednesday on the same number of matches (36).

We say: Brentford 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Brentford are in desperate need of a win during a vital stage of the season, and we fancy the Bees to pick up all three points against a Sheffield Wednesday side that played a tough 90 minutes on Wednesday night.

Charlton vs. Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3pm)

Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate on March 2, 2020© Reuters

Charlton Athletic will welcome Middlesbrough to The Valley for Saturday's Championship clash, in a battle between two sides embroiled in a relegation dogfight.

Only one point separates the relegation rivals going into the match, and both teams will be eager to steer clear of the drop zone as the season draws to a close.

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-0 Middlesbrough

Both sides will be keen to pick up as many points as possible going into the business end of the season, however Boro's poor away form coupled with Charlton's recent signs of improvement means that we're going for a narrow home win.

Leeds vs. Huddersfield (Saturday, 3pm)

Leeds United's quest for Championship promotion continues on Saturday with a home match against Huddersfield Town.

The Whites have got their campaign firmly back on track with four wins in a row - three of those by a 1-0 scoreline - while Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield are also in good form.

We say: Leeds United 1-0 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield have eased their relegation fears with back-to-back wins and boast a good recent record at Elland Road. Leeds are over their recent wobble, however, and we are tipping them to make it a third 1-0 win in a row on home soil.

Preston vs. QPR (Saturday, 3pm)

Preston manager Alex Neil on February 1, 2020© Reuters

Preston North End play host to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon looking for the win which would ensure that they remain in the Championship playoffs.

Meanwhile, QPR make the trip to Deepdale having put together an improved run of form, which has created a nine-point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone.

We say: Preston North End 2-1 Queens Park Rangers

Given Preston's recent efforts in front of goal, we feel that this should turn out to be a low-scoring encounter. However, home advantage could prove key, with Neil's men finding an extra gear during the closing stages to claim all three points.

Stoke vs. Hull (Saturday, 3pm)

Stoke City boss Michael O'Neill on February 15, 2020© Reuters

Stoke City play host to Hull City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon knowing that victory will take the club above their opponents in the table.

Meanwhile, the Tigers - currently in 18th position - now sit just three points above the relegation zone after a run of three successive defeats.

We say: Stoke City 1-1 Hull City

While Stoke are the favourites to prevail at the bet365 Stadium, it remains to be seen how they will react after letting slip two points at Luton. With that in mind, we feel that the Tigers may do enough to earn a share of the spoils.

Swansea vs. West Brom (Saturday, 3pm)

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic on February 15, 2020© Reuters

West Bromwich Albion make the trip to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City looking to respond to last weekend's surprise defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Meanwhile, the Swans welcome the Championship leaders on Saturday afternoon sitting four points adrift of the playoffs after two matches without a win.

We say: Swansea City 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

Bilic is not used to witnessing his side suffer back-to-back defeats, and we feel that he will get a positive response to the double setback. While Swansea should be competitive throughout the contest, the Baggies could claim all three points in South Wales.

Wigan vs. Luton (Saturday, 3pm)

Wigan's Jamal Lowe celebrates scoring their second goal on February 26, 2020© Reuters

Wigan Athletic head into their crucial encounter with Luton Town having put together a three-match winning streak in the Championship.

However, bottom-of-the-table side Luton can reduce the gap to the Latics to just three points with victory at the DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

We say: Wigan Athletic 2-1 Luton Town

While you cannot write off Luton in this contest, it is equally hard to back against Wigan right now. Cook's men are third in the Championship form table, and we feel that they will show the cutting edge required to see off the Hatters.

Derby vs. Blackburn (Sunday, 3pm)

Derby County's Wayne Rooney pictured on March 5, 2020© Reuters

Derby County play host to Blackburn Rovers at Pride Park for Sunday's Championship clash, with both sides having seen their promotion hopes suffer as of late.

Phillip Cocu's side currently sit 13th in the table on 48 points, whereas Blackburn lie eighth on 53 points following three consecutive draws.

We say: Derby County 2-2 Blackburn Rovers

Derby have been impressive at Pride Park all season, and Blackburn haven't been able to stop scoring away from home in the past few months. With that in mind, we're going for a high-scoring draw between two sides who will no doubt be desperate for all three points.
