Lazio set up a Coppa Italia quarter-final clash with Juventus thanks to a 2-1 victory over Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico this afternoon.
The Sky Blues headed into the clash having failed to win any of their previous four outings, but a late goal from young midfielder Danilo Cataldi secured their progression.
The hosts dominated much of the tie, yet it was the away side that broke the deadlock in the 67th minute. Giovanni Pasquale picked out Panagiotis Kone with a cross and the Greek midfielder sent his volley beyond the reach of Etrit Berisha in the home goal.
However, just when it appeared that Lazio were heading for an exit, Alessandro Matri equalised. Udinese failed to clear a loose ball and the experienced frontman capitalised to fire in.
Having made all three substitutions, the visitors then lost Rodrigo Aguirre to injury and their numerical disadvantage counted against them 11 minutes from the end. Abdoulay Konko saw his initial shot saved by Alex Meret, but Cataldi was on hand to turn in the rebound.
Stefano Pioli's men will now take on the Old Lady in a repeat of last season's final, which Juve won 2-1 after extra time.
