Juventus move 11 points clear

Juventus open up an 11-point lead at the top of Serie A courtesy of a 2-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro this evening.

Juventus have extended their lead at the top of Serie A to 11 points courtesy of a 2-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro this evening.

The hosts began the match strongly and had two decent sights of goal in the opening 12 minutes, with Adel Taarabt testing Gianluigi Buffon before Giampaolo Pazzini nodded a chance over the bar.

Carlos Tevez tested Christian Abbiati with a drilled shot after Fernando Llorente's flick, while the Milan keeper was also on hand to make a fine stop to deny Stephan Lichtsteiner after a defensive mix-up.

Milan almost broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Kaka beat Buffon at the second time of asking, only for Andrea Barzagli to get back in time to clear it off the line.

They had another chance to make the breakthrough shortly before half time as Buffon could only push Kaka's effort into the path of Andrea Poli, but he blasted his effort over from close range.

Juventus took the lead against the run of play just a minute later, however, as Tevez linked up with Lichtsteiner to tee up Llorente for a simple finish.

They almost doubled their lead at the start of the second half as they broke forward from midfield through Tevez, whose eventual shot was well held by the keeper.

Milan responded with two headed chances of their own in the space of one minute, but on both occasions Pazzini couldn't get enough power on either to beat Buffon.

The visitors wrapped up all three points with just over 20 minutes of the match remaining as Tevez unleashed a powerful strike from long range that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Juve were inches away from making it three later in the match as Paul Pogba burst forward from midfield before firing a low effort that clipped the outside of the post.
