Mick McCarthy rules out Tyrone Mings, Teddy Bishop sale

Mick McCarthy says that promotion-chasing Ipswich cannot afford to sell either Tyrone Mings or Teddy Bishop in the middle of the season.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has ruled out January moves away for in-demand Tyrone Mings and Teddy Bishop.

The highly-rated pair, said to be valued at £10m apiece, are reported to have courted interest from the Premier League's elite, with Arsenal repeatedly linked with Mings, while Liverpool track Bishop.

McCarthy's side sit outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference, and the Town manager says that both players will play a key role as the Tractor Boys eye a return to the top flight.

"We see the scout list and we know they're always here watching them," he told The Mirror.

"But we're not getting shot of any of our players because we want to be in the mix for promotion at the end of the season."

Ipswich can move top of England's second tier with victory away to Brighton & Hove Albion tonight after leaders Bournemouth slipped up away to Leeds United on Tuesday.
