Last-gasp Daryl Murphy wins it for Ipswich Town

A late head from Daryl Murphy helps Ipswich Town to a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town.

A last-gasp header from Daryl Murphy has given Ipswich Town a dramatic 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

The home side started on the front foot, firing a warning shot inside five minutes as Luke Chambers's long-range effort whizzed past the post.

Huddersfield had their fair share of attacking possession, but Ipswich came close again in the 20th minute when David McGoldrick's shot on the turn was kept out by Alex Smithies.

The Terriers threatened in the 23rd minute as a dipping strike from Oliver Norwood cleared the crossbar, with Ipswich keeper Dean Gerken saving well from Danny Ward moments later.

Huddersfield were awarded a penalty in the 24th minute when Christophe Berra brought down James Vaughan in the box, but Gerken saved the former Everton striker's resultant spot kick.

Mark Robins's side edged their noses in front 10 minutes before the break through Ward, who turned in Adam Hammill's cross to make it 1-0 at the interval.

Ipswich pulled a goal back early in the second period when Cole Skuse tore the Terriers' defence apart with a through-ball, and McGoldrick capped off the move with a cool finish.

They had Gerken to thank for keeping the score level in the latter stages as the Ipswich keeper pulled off an impressive reaction save to keep out a deflected shot from Sean Scannell.

Mick McCarthy's side nicked it at the death, with Murphy finding the net with a last-ditch header following a free kick to secure maximum points for the Tractor Boys.
