Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy happy with point

Mick McCarthy concedes that he would have taken a point prior to Ipswich Town's 0-0 draw against Huddersfield Town.

Mick McCarthy has admitted that he was pleased to have seen his Ipswich Town side claim a point from their trip to Huddersfield Town earlier today.

A victory would have lifted the Suffolk-based outfit away from relegation trouble. However, as it stands, they are now just four points away from the drop zone with 12 matches left to play.

Despite the fact that his team still remain in danger, McCarthy has insisted that he would have taken a draw before the encounter started.

"It was a lousy pitch that doesn't help a team play good football and it wasn't a good game but I'll take the point," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"I would have taken it before I got here. It was two teams who are struggling at the wrong end of the table and it was never likely to be a free flowing game when you take that into consideration and the state of the pitch.

"They had the better chances, we didn't play that well but we hung on in there and coming away from home, it was a good point."

Next Saturday Ipswich take on Leicester City.
