Atalanta fightback stuns Inter Milan

A German Denis hat-trick helps Atalanta come from 3-1 down to beat Inter Milan 4-3 at the San Siro in Serie A.

Atalanta have come from 3-1 down to defeat Inter Milan 4-3 at the San Siro in Serie A.

German Denis netted a second-half hat-trick for the visitors as they climbed 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

The home side led at the break when Tommaso Rocchi converted from close range on 43 minutes.

Atalanta got themselves level on 56 minutes through Giacomo Bonaventura's emphatic finish, but Inter regained the lead instantly as Ricardo Alvarez headed in.

Alvarez was on target again on the hour mark as the hosts looked to be in control of the contest.

However, a penalty from Denis with 65 minutes played gave the visitors hope before the striker netted again soon after to make it 3-3.

The turnaround was complete on 77 minutes as Denis completed his hat-trick when he met Bonaventura's cross to fire into the bottom corner.

Atalanta had to finish the match with 10 men due to a 90th-minute red card for Cristian Raimondi, but they were able to hold on for a famous victory.
