Hull showed some early promise as Yannick Sagbo played in a cross that was just out of reach for George Boyd.

Sagbo was involved again, playing in Matt Fryatt, whose shot was blocked by the home defence.

Fryatt came even closer a few minutes later, picking up Proschwitz's pass from deep, but the striker's shot came back off the post.

The Terriers struggled to get into the match but had a decent chance through Sean Scannell who, after skipping past Alex Bruce, slipped in Daniel Carr. However, the young striker saw his shot blocked.

Carr found himself in space again but Bruce was quickly over to avert the danger.

Hull finally made the breakthrough after an hour as Proschwitz found himself unmarked and the made the most of the opportunity, smashing the ball in.

The Premier League side were comfortable in possession, but when Huddersfield did break through, Bruce was there to clear up again.

Adam Hammill curled over for the visitors before substitute Duane Holmes forced Steve Harper into a save from just outside the box.

Proschwitz could have doubled Hull's lead but, after Alex Smithies's pass fell to him, the striker struck over.

However, Hull were able to see out the rest of the game.
