Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town play out goalless draw

Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town draw 0-0 in their Championship encounter this afternoon.

Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town have played out a goalless draw in the Championship, despite both sides creating numerous chances to break the deadlock.

It was the visitors who created the game's first real opportunity when debutant Jazz Richards won the ball high up the field, but Adam Hammill fired wide of goal.

James Vaughan wasted another chance for the visitors minutes later when he headed against the Blackburn bar, but his blushes were spared when the linesman raised his flag for offside.

Blackburn finally got hold of the ball and nearly made the most of it when Tom Cairney found space, but he fired wide of Alex Smithies in the Town goal.

The hosts almost went ahead following a dangerous ball from Joshua King, which was spilt by Smithies to the feet of Jordan Rhodes, who was not able to control it well enough in time to finish.

Rhodes wasted another chance soon after when Hammill was too easily dispossessed, with the ball being whipped into the striker who could only head straight at Smithies.

The home side were wasteful yet again, with Tommy Spurr the culprit this time as he found himself unmarked only to fire high and wide.

Blackburn's Chris Taylor tried to force the issue after half time when he beat Joel Lynch and Paul Dixon before trying to chip Smithies from distance, but his effort went over.

Despite the end-to-end action as both teams searched for a victory, neither side were capable of creating anything of real danger in the closing stages as the game ended 0-0.
