A first-half brace by Will Buckley secures three points for Brighton & Hove Albion at Huddersfield Town.

A first-half brace by Will Buckley was enough to give Brighton & Hove Albion all three points at Huddersfield Town in today's Championship clash.

Craig Mackail-Smith had an early opportunity to open the scoring for the visitors, his right-footed strike sailing wide of Alex Smithies's goal in the third minute.

Gus Poyet's men broke the deadlock two minutes later through William Buckley, who found the back of the net from 18 yards after being played in from the right channel by Bruno.

Brighton continued to pressurise their hosts, and almost went two in front when Ashley Barnes connected with Andrea Stabilin Orlandi's corner, only to head over the bar.

They went one better just before the break and Buckley was the thorn in Huddersfield's side once again, smashing home Mackail-Smith's pass on 40 minutes to send the Seagulls into the break 2-0 to the good.

The home side created more in the second half, coming close through Lee Novak on 59 minutes and Adam Clayton's free kick just after the hour.

Buckley was denied a hat-trick at the other end on 74 minutes when Smithies tipped his left-footed strike around the post, and there was late drama to come.

Simon Church found the net for Huddersfield in the final minute to make for a nervy finish, but the Seasiders survived stoppage-time pressure to hold on for the win.
