Chris Powell "embarrassed" by Huddersfield Town display

Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell slams his team's 'embarrassing' performance in their 2-0 home defeat to Rotherham United in the Championship.

Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell has admitted that he was "embarrassed" by his side's display in their 2-0 defeat to Rotherham United on Saturday.

Strikes from Kari Arnason and Connor Sammon handed the Millers the victory in the Championship, despite them being reduced to 10 men for the final 16 minutes of the match when Lee Frecklington was dismissed.

Powell feels that his team's attitude and performance were nowhere near the level that it should have been for the clash at the John Smith's Stadium.

He told reporters: "I'm angry and embarrassed. We quite clearly didn't get going from the first minute. I can take losing if we put in a performance, but we quite clearly didn't do that today.

"We started slowly and I thought our decision-making was poor. Joe Lolley was having some success and got our fans going, but as a team we weren't there. We were nowhere near our last home performance.

"Rotherham quite clearly wanted it more than us today, and we cannot have that. We have to put in a performance over 90 minutes. We weren't at the races, which has been the case three times this week. We can't let that continue, because the fans don't deserve it. You have to compete before you can show your skill and we haven't done that."

Huddersfield are 16th in the Championship table, 11 points clear of the relegation zone.
