Preview: Grimsby Town vs. Harrogate Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Grimsby Town and Harrogate Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Grimsby Town will be aiming to record consecutive victories when they host Harrogate Town in League Two on Tuesday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have drawn both of their last two matches as they look to remain outside of the relegation places.

Having lost each of their previous two matches, Grimsby boss Paul Hurst would have been delighted to see his side return to winning ways at the weekend through Anthony Glennon's injury-time strike away to Northampton Town.

The automatic promotion contenders had taken an early lead through Sam Hoskins' opener, but Luke Waterfall equalised before Glennon's winner sparked jubilant scenes in the away end.

Winning away to a side flying considerably higher than them in the table was perhaps typical of the Mariners' first season back in the Football League, having now collected eight more points on the road than they have at Blundell Park.

As such, Hurst will be determined to see his side claim what would only be their fourth home win of the season in League Two should they beat Harrogate on Tuesday.

Harrogate, meanwhile, dropped two precious points as Crewe Alexandra scored two late goals to claim a 2-2 draw at Wetherby Road on Saturday.

The Sulphurites looked to have earned a crucial victory through strikes from Jack Muldoon and Kazeem Olaigbe either side of half time, but Dan Agyei's 83rd-minute penalty set up a nervy finish for the hosts before Tariq Uwakwe equalised with only one minute of normal time remaining.

A win would have moved Simon Weaver's side five points clear of the relegation zone, but instead Crawley Town are within three points of Harrogate with a game in hand.

As such, Tuesday's trip to Grimsby presents Harrogate with a massive opportunity to put more distance between themselves and the bottom two, especially considering their forthcoming opponents' poor form on home turf this season.

Team News

Grimsby could remain without Jordan Cropper and Lewis Richardson due to injury on Tuesday, but the likes of Ryan Taylor and recent goalscorer Waterfall's return to fitness in recent weeks have provided Hurst's side with a huge boost.

Providing there are no other issues within his squad, the former Ipswich Town boss is unlikely to make any changes to the side which dispatched Northampton last time out.

Harrogate, meanwhile, are likely to travel without Dior Angus, Will Smith, Stephen Dooley and Lewis Richards due to injury.

Despite throwing away two late goals against Crewe last time out, Weaver is likely to have been pleased by his side's performance overall, and he may look to retain the same starting XI providing there are no other fitness concerns within his squad.

Grimsby Town possible starting lineup:
Crocombe; Emmanuel, Waterfall, Maher, Amos; Clifton, Holohan, Morris, Gallacher; McAtee, Orsi

Harrogate Town possible starting lineup:
Oxley; Sims, O'Connor, Eastman, Foulds; Pattison, Sutton, Falkingham, Olaigbe; Muldoon, Armstrong

We say: Grimsby Town 1-1 Harrogate Town

With Grimsby struggling to claim wins at Blundell Park this season, we can envisage Harrogate securing a third successive draw on Tuesday.

The visitors will be desperate to move six points clear of the bottom two by returning to Yorkshire with all three points, but both managers may be content with avoiding defeat.
