Justin Edinburgh's switch from Newport County to Gillingham has reportedly hit a last-minute snag over the compensation figure.
The Gills have been given permission to speak to the 45-year-old about succeeding Peter Taylor as manager, and Edinburgh has reportedly told the Welsh outfit that he would like to leave for the Priestfield Stadium.
However, the move has been put on hold after Gills chairman Paul Scally baulked at Newport's six-figure compensation sum.
BBC Sport claims that Gillingham have until the end of Wednesday to decide whether or not they are going to pay the fee, having originally offered less than half of what is being demanded.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth full-back Edinburgh led Newport to promotion to the Football League in 2013 and is contracted to them until the summer of 2016.
