Neal Ardley rejects Gillingham

Neal Ardley confirms that he is not planning to leave AFC Wimbledon to take charge of Gillingham.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has revealed that he has turned down an approach to discuss the Gillingham managerial vacancy.

It appears that the 42-year-old was a leading candidate to replace Peter Taylor as far as the League One outfit were concerned.

However, Ardley believes that it is not the right time for him to leave his position at Kingsmeadow.

"Gillingham have gone about it the right way. They asked the question to the club. I spoke to [chief executive] Eric Samuelson about it," BBC Sport quotes Ardley as saying.

"We both decided we're on a project here. This is my club. It's not the right time for me to be leaving. I want to try and achieve something here, and hopefully long may that continue."

Ardley, who is a former Wimbledon player, took charge of the Dons back in October 2012.
