Rene Meulensteen: 'Fulham need seven wins to stay up'

Rene Meulensteen believes that Fulham need seven wins from their remaining 14 games to stay in the Premier League.

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has claimed that his team need seven wins from their remaining 14 games to stay in the Premier League.

The Cottagers are currently four points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at home to Southampton.

"I would think from the 14 games we should probably have to win half of them if you look at adding up the points where you get to," the Dutchman is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I don't know if six games will be enough, or five games and a couple of draws, but if you cut it in half and you look at it then with seven wins we would be in a much better position."

Fulham are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Sheffield United in an FA Cup fourth-round replay.
