Mahamadou Diarra confident of Fulham survival

Mahamadou Diarra is confident that Fulham can avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Mahamadou Diarra has insisted that Fulham are good enough to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Cottagers moved to within five points of safety on Saturday as they earned a 2-1 win at Aston Villa.

Diarra, who recently returned to Fulham on a short-term deal, now believes that the team can go on and secure their top-flight status in the coming weeks.

"We deserved the win. We controlled the game and we were still trying to play. We got the three points but we can play much better," he told the club's official website.

"The 3,000 away fans were great. They really want us to stay up so we have to do it for them as they are always here for us.

"We now have five finals to play and all the games are very important. We still believe. Why not?"

Fulham return to action this Saturday when fellow strugglers Norwich City travel to Craven Cottage.
