Patrick Vieira criticises France structure

Patrick Vieira claims that there are faults with the structure of French football ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

Former France international Patrick Vieira has criticised the French Football Federation ahead of the World Cup.

Didier Deschamps's side are preparing for their campaign in Group E, where they will face Ecuador, Honduras and Switzerland.

Vieira has admitted that he is disappointed to see a number off-field issues affecting the squad ahead of the tournament in Brazil.

"In France you are talking about Samir Nasri and some of the other players having personal issues," FourFourTwo quotes the former Arsenal midfielder as saying.

"But Samir never had a problem with Manchester City. They talk about Karim Benzema but he never had a problem with Real Madrid. Franck Ribery never had a problem at Bayern Munich.

"So I think it is the structure that creates that kind of problem. The French national team has to look at itself, how the structure is done. That is not as strong as City, Bayern or Real Madrid."

France play Honduras in their opening match of the World Cup on June 15.
