Tony Hibbert signs new Everton contract

Long-serving Everton defender Tony Hibbert signs a new two-year contract with the club that will keep him at Goodison Park until 2016.

Long-serving defender Tony Hibbert has signed a new deal with Everton that will keep him at the club for a further two years.

The 33-year-old had seen his previous contract at the club expire this summer, but manager Roberto Martinez has ensured that the Everton youth academy product will remain at Goodison Park until at least 2016.

Hibbert suffered an injury-plagued campaign last season, while the form of Seamus Coleman also limited the right-back to just six appearances.

"Tony Hibbert has today signed a new two-year contract with the club," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The defender, 33, had come to the end of his existing deal but will now remain at Goodison Park until at least the summer of 2016."

Everton have also handed a new three-year deal to 21-year-old striker Conor McAleny, who missed the majority of last season with a broken leg that he picked up in August while on loan at Brentford.
